| Note | Deed record film 019,477, pp 89-90 17 Mar 1806, shows administration of estate of Samuel Devenport. It lists Martha Devenport (wife); Isaac & John Devenport, of Orange Co., NC, and John Hendricks, of Rowan Co., NC. (Would assume this is husband of daughter of Samuel and Martha. Samuel Devenport died in 1796, and Martha was listed as head of house in the 1800 Census of Orange Co., NC (age 26-45) with 2 males and 1 female (ages 10-16.) As of Apr 2001 I have not been able to find John Hendricks and wife in census records or in NC marriage records (which for early years are very very imcomplete). Census records, of course, do not show name of spouse or ages so will keep looking for more information. Am checking land records. |
