He could conceivably have been living with some other family to work for them; (Apr2002) I DID NOT yet find Samuel Booth Goodwin family in 1861, 1871, or 1881 census. I found a Joseph and Harriet Goodwin family on London Road in 1861 census Film 0542892: Joseph age 27 and wife, Harriet, age 27, with children Ellen, 6; Ann, 5; Prudence,3; and Charles, 1. Will try to find out if this could be this Joseph and his family.

Film 836390 shows "Robert William", age 41, still SINGLE, living on Mill Street. Selina Myatt, age 26, living as a servant at this home. She was born Longton, Stafford. He was born Leek, Stafford.

Film 1341656 1881 census shows "Robert W." age 51, bookkeeper (nearly blind), married to "Selina" age 36, Asst. Bookkeeper. They are living on Milk Street.

Fiche 6097295 (1), 1891 Census Leek,Stafford, shows Robert W. Godwin (age 61) and wife Selina (age 45) living on Church Lane next door to Eliza Myatt (widow) age 64. Robert W. is listed as Accountant Bookkeeper, BLIND.

IN 1871 CENSUS HER ONLY SISTER, SUSANNAH, WAS STILL LIVING WITH PARENTS, BUT ELIZA WASN'T BUT A "GRANDDAUGHTER OF HER PARENTS, JOSEPH AND ELIZA, WAS LIVING WITH THEM. HER NAME WAS "ESTHER HAYNES" AGE 9, BORN LEEK,STAFFORDSHIRE. I WOULD ASSUME, THEREFORE, THAT ELIZA WAS MARRIED TO A MAN LAST NAME "HAYNES" BUT HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO VERIFY THIS YET (4/2002).

In 1891 Census (fiche 8097295 (1) - age 54, Butcher, living on Ball Haye Street.

1891 cemsus shows had 3 servants; one was Butcher Apprentice.

Same name as sister born in 1834 who must have died as a child. 1861 and 1871 census show her as a "dress maker".
1881 census, film 1341656, shows her still single, age 39, milliner, living on Cromwell Ice Street, with brother, William (also still single).

Note* 1851 census age 7; 1861 census age 17 (butcher apprentice).In 1871 census (film 836390), he is married with 4 children, living on Pump Street (butcher). In 1881 census, (film #1341657), he was married amd living at #9 Derby Street. Listed as "Butcher".

Two children were listed in 1871 (Mary A., age 3; and Thomas, age 1; that do not appear in 1881 census).

IMPORTANT NOTE; JOSEPH WAS LISTED IN 1881 CENSUS AS AGE 38 (ANN 37). IN 1891 CENSUS, ANN IS LISTED AS A WIDOW (AGE 46), LIVING ON PUMP STREET WITH 6 CHILDREN STILL LIVING AT HOME. JOSEPH MUST HAVE DIED BETWEEN 1881 AND 1891.
