And not knowing how it may please God to deal with me in this life but considering the uncertainty of this transitory life do make and declare these presents to contain my last Will and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say) First and principally I commend my soul unto the hands of Almighty God hoping to be saved through the merit death passion resurrection of Jesus Christ my only Saviour. And my body to the earth or sea which it shall please God to ordain and for such worldly estate as it shall please God to bless me with in this life (that is to say) all such wages sum and sums of money lands tenements goods chattels and estate whatsoever wherewith at the time of my decease I shall be possessed or invested or which shall then belong or of right appertain unto me I do give devise and bequeath unto my beloved wife Catherine Otton whom I do make and ordain full and sole executrix of this my last Will and Testament and do revoke all former Wills and Deeds of Gift by at any time heretofore made and do ordain these presents to stand and be for and as my last Will and Testament for ever. The John and Catherine, Otton, of Weymouth, is arrived at Dover from South Carolina ; who on the 27th of April in lat 41.9 N lon 58.20 W spoke with the Everton, Ashburn, from Liverpool to Virginia, all well on board. She came out with the last fleet, but put back, and sailed again the last of March.3
