Event-Misc* Waltheof was young when his father died, and the earldoms were given to Harold's brother Tostig. When Tostig was banished, the earldoms were given to Waltheof in October 1065.4 
Event-Misc He joined the Danes on the attack on Yorkshire in 1069.4 
Marriage* He married Judith of Lens, daughter of Lambert of Boulogne and Adeliza of Normandy, in 1070.1,2 
Event-Misc He submitted to King William, who confimed his earldom in January 1070.4 
Event-Misc* Earl Waltheof joined the conspiracy to seize England while attending the wedding of Ralph de Gael in 1075 at Exning.4 
Event-Misc He repented and went to Normandy to seek the pardon of the King, who treated the matter lightly at the time. However, at Christmas he was brought to trial, with his wife as witness on 25 December 1075 at Westminster.4 
Death* He died beheaded on 31 May 1076 at St. Giles Hill, Winchester, England.1,2 
Burial* He was buried at Crowland, Two weeks after the beheading, the Abbot of Ulfketel, upon a request by Judith, and with the King's permission, retrieved the body to be entombed honorably.4
