I have seen her baptism in the Great Budworth register and you are correct with the details. However there were at least 3 if not 4 William Gleaves in the parish at that time.
    I have a photo of William Gleave ans Sarah Ryders grave and on it are listed their children. Alice is not there but that is not suprising.However the sons listed include William born 11 Jan 1767 died age one week on 18 Jan 1767, and Ellis who was christened on March 5 1768. As Alice was baptised on 17 April that same year it is unlikely that she was the daughter of the same couple.
    Like you I had accepted this parentage until I saw the gravestone which is lying down in Great Budworth graveyard...."

    email 2: "Her father is in the Great Budworth register solely as William Gleave of Antrobus (no mothers names are given in this register) , and people commonly link this to the William Gleave who died in Antrobus a couple of years later (leaving a will, occupation cordwainer). This seems to be gospel, but having stood on this Williams gravestone it is clearly an error as he had a son also named William who was born and died within a couple of days, about 2 months before Alice's baptism. All the children listed on this gravestone were baptised within a few days of their birth so it is unlikely that Alice was an older child at baptism.
    There were at least two other William Gleaves' living in Great Budworth at the time - one a yeoman who seemed to live in Marbury and one who moved around a lot - his children were born in several villages mainly in the west of the parish, and I think it likely that he is Alice's father. Unfortunately his parentage is unknown although I have a suspicion he came from Hobs Hill in Daresbury parish and married Hannah Musket in Runcorn in 1759....""
