Hackett Lehi — Christopher Charles Hackett, 85, died at his home here Tuesday night following a long illness of complications incident to age. He was born in Liverpool, England, the son of Pierce and Mary Edwards Hackett. The family emigrated to the United States in 1851, settling in Missouri. He was converted to the L.D.S. Church and came to Utah in 1878. He married Margaret Booth of Alpine December 25, 1881, and they made their home in Alpine for a number of years. They later moved to Wellsville, where they lived for four years, then to Rock Springs, Wyo. and later to Provo. He had been a resident of Lehi for the past 18 years. He was a tailor and a carpenter and was justice of the peace. An active L.D.S Church worker, he acted as M.I.A president in Cache Valley for a number of years and served an L.D.S. mission to the northern states in 1905–1907. He was preident of the Alpine Dramatic Club for 30 years. Surviving are the following sons and daughters: Mrs. Junius Banks, Miss Maud Hackett, Lehi; Mrs. Joseph F. Marsh, Alpine; Charles and J. E. Hackett, Montrose, Cal; Mrs. Ora Valentine, Mrs. Margaret Mills, Rulon and Jack Hackett, Salt Lake City; also 23 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the L.D.S. Fifth Ward chapel with interment in the Alpine cemetery. Friends may call at the A. H. Wing mortuary Thursday night and at the family home Friday prior to services. On 16 June 1936 at Lehi, Utah, Utah, at age 85.1 |
