Event-Misc* Eberhard, Duke of Bavaria, refused homage to Otto. When Otto deposed him in favor of his uncle Berthold, Eberhard III of Franconia revolted and tried to depose Otto in favor of his elder half-brother Thankmar. Otto was able to deafeat and kill Thankmar. The revolt continued into the next year when Giselbert of Loraine swore fealty to King Louis IV of France. Otto's younger brother Henry conspired with the archbishop of Mainz to assassinate Otto. In 938.4 
Event-Misc Otto's victory at the Battle of Andernach ended the rebellion, when the Dukes of Franconia and Lorraine were killed. Brother Henry fled to France and Otto supported Hugh Magnus in his campaign against the French crown. In 939.4 
Event-Misc* Through the intervention of their mother, Henry and Otto were reconciled in 941.4 
(Witness) Event-Misc Upon the death of King Lothaire II of Italy, Berengar declared himself King. He tried to legitimize his rule by forcing Adelaide, the widow of Lothaire to marry his sone Adalbert. She appealed to Otto I, who invaded in 951, forcing Berengar to do homage, whereupon Otto married Adelaide. In 950.6
Marriage* He married St. Adelaide of Lombardy, daughter of King Rudolph II of Burgundy and Bertha of Swabia, in October 951 his second wife.1,5 
Title* He held the title of Holy Roman Emperor. Prior to Otto's coronation, the title had lain dormant for 40 years. Between 962 and 973.5,4
