Exercise
Exercise is an important component of good health practices for everyone. In some people, unfortunately, strenuous exercise can trigger migraines. Therefore, it is important for migraineurs to find a level of exercise that works for them and make it a regular part of their daily lives.

Sleep
Migraines can be triggered both by too little sleep and by too much sleep (sleeping in). It is important to try to regularize the sleep schedule, getting enough sleep each night, but not oversleeping. Sleep should be taken at the same time each day if possible. Those who work shifts should try to sleep at the same time even on days off.

Food and Drink
Migraine patients should avoid foods that trigger migraines in their particular case. See the dietary page for more information on this. Skipping meals also can trigger migraines in some people.

Drugs
Certain drugs can provoke migraines. It is important for migraine patients to inform their physicians about their headache problem and to be cautious of over-the-counter medications that can make migraines worse. Certain asthma medicines, heart medicines, and diet pills fall into this category, among others. Analgesics can certainly make headaches more chronic if they are taken often.

Stress
Most of us don't have the option of avoiding stress, but we need to be aware that it is a factor in migraine and if we can reduce stress we may experience an improvement in headaches.
