Headaches are the most common reason for neurologic consultation. A Danish study found that 16% of all people had migraine headaches in their lifetime and 78% of people had tension headaches. Migraine headaches often are severe enough to be disabling. They are quite common, especially in women, and are a leading cause of lost productivity as well as impacting the social and family lives of those who suffer from them.
